Week 6: Famous Last Words
This week I did not do my best in terms of writing. I did not really get into any of the stories too much, and I also waited until last minute to write my storytelling. I think this really effected me because I feel like I took a step backwards, but it is okay because I will be better next week. For sure! I have learned this week that it is not really that fun to rewrite a story if you are not going to rewrite some aspect of it. It may be a good story still, but the fun part is making it your own. That is something I plan to work on next week.

Since fall is upon us, I decided to add a few picturse of one the places I have visited that I love most. I believe that it is probably chilly and beautiful in Canada right now. Canada is the only place I have ever been that I would be okay with moving to. The people are nice, the coffee is PERFECT, and it is such a laid back place compared to the United States. I have only ever visited in the summer and the winter, not the fall. I traveled to Toronto, Ontario one summer in July and one winter in January. July was amazing because it was in the 70s and 80s. Perfect weather in my opinion since I really do not like the heat of Oklahoma summers. When I went at New Years, it was a whole different story. It snowed most of the days, and was bitter cold like I have never felt before. I went ice skating off Lake Ontario late at night while it was snowing. Needless to say I came home with a horrible, horrible cold.

I really loved Niagara Falls when I went (I did this in July)! It was one of the most beautiful places I have been to. So since I know Canada is probably looking amazing this time of year, I decided to post some picture of Fall in Canada that I found on Google. Since I have been to one of the biggest cities in Canada, I would really love to travel to a less city-like city in Canada and hopefully in the Fall or Winter.
Hey Stephanie! First I want to say that I absolutely love your background and the images you chose for this blog post. They are all so calming and peaceful, which it lovely to see with midterms looming! As for having a rough week with this class, I can certainly understand that. This course requires a lot of time and creative energy to really get the most out of it. Unfortunately, some weeks have other courses that also have high demands and you just have to make a sacrifice in one area or another. Luckily, there is a lot of extra credit opportunities here, so we can focus less on just getting the A and more on understanding the lessons we can gain from this experience! Good luck the rest of the semester!
ReplyDeleteHey Stephanie! Wow, what great pictures. I've been to Toronto in the spring, but I was only there for a few days. It was really cloudy and rainy and cold. But there were so many cool things to do and places to visit! I'd love to go back. I remember when I visited Niagara Falls and it was truly incredible. The sheer size was so impressive and daunting at the same time. Good luck during the rest of your semester! I know keeping up with the posts can be really difficult with other obligations, but it seems like you have a handle on things!
ReplyDeleteHey Stephanie! These pictures of Canada are beautiful. I can't imagine living somewhere with scenery like that, what a dream it would be! You're not the first person I have talked to that has said they want to move there. my boyfriend visited a smaller area of Canada this summer and came home telling me he wanted to move there. I can't wait to visit it some day!
ReplyDeleteAs far as the class is concerned, I too have noticed that when I put my storytelling off or at least don't brainstorm in advance, that my story isn't as good in the end. I feel like my writing suffers. However, since I have such a busy schedule, I tend to have to put it off and usually end up procrastinating. How far in advance do you usually write your stories?
Anyways, it was great reading your post! Keep up the great work!
Stephanie, thank you for sharing all those beautiful pictures! I'm from Michigan, so we get similar sights in the fall, but there is something so enchantingly different about the scenery in Canada.
ReplyDeleteWith regards to your writing, I completely understand your sentiment about making stories your own. During the first few weeks when we had storytelling exercises, I would just take the story and only change small details or the point of view. Now, when I go back and read them, I get bored because they're almost exactly the same as the original. Creative writing is challenging, but it's fun deciding what to do with the characters and the plot! This is a good realization to make, and I can't wait to read your future storytelling posts with this in mind.
Hey Stephanie,
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures you have included. The scenery in Canada is absolutely beautiful! Even though I have never been there myself, I have a friend who also went to Niagara Falls this summer…in July actually! The pictures he showed me when he got back from his vacation were breath taking! I have to say the Canadian weather sounds pretty nice right now too. I cannot believe it is October and I am still wearing shorts and t-shirt everyday, and still sweating!
Anyways, it was nice getting to read your post!
Well I officially want to visit Canada now!! These pictures are absolutely gorgeous and have definitely piqued my interest in the location, but I feel like it is necessary to visit the historic Niagara Falls at least once in my life.
ReplyDeleteI also agree that my writing has declined at some points in the semester. It is hard to keep the same amount of effort and dedication week after week, especially when some weeks are just harder than others with other course work, deadlines and obligations. Some weeks I struggled to find the time for this course while others I had the time to devote to making my posts and stories better.
Hope you enjoy the rest of your semester and good luck!!
